Local Neighborhood Guide: Montrose

We all know that Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US. You can practically drive an hour in any direction and still be in the greater Houston area! That being said, we would love to show you all of our favorite places in each neighborhood. Today we wanted to talk about Montrose – an area known for its artsy walls, eclectic bars, vintage stores and mix of eateries. Here is a list of some of our favorites!

Pavement

Pavement is a funky retailer focusing on both new & used apparel, accessories and shoes for men & women. It’s connected to Leopard Lounge as well, so you get a 2-for-1 thrift shop experience!

 

Out of the Closet

Out of the Closet is a thrift store selling clothing, books & housewares; profits go to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Plus, the famous Biscuit Paint Wall is right around the corner!

Emerson Rose is a small boutique dedicated to offering unique, fashionable, and timeless apparel, accessories, gifts and home decor. This place also has a cute wall for photo ops!

 

Space Montrose

Space Montrose is a gift shop boutique with a little bit of everything! The perfect place to find knick knacks, Houston memorabilia, or presents for any occasion.

This is the best neighborhood burger spot with a patio serving gourmet burgers, fancy shakes, wine & craft beer. My favorite is the Kimchi Burger!

 

Common Bond

Common Bond is a rustic-chic cafe & bakery with acclaimed chefs creating sweet pastries & seasonal savory dishes. They offer breakfast & brunch as well as lunch and dinner. 

 

Museums:

Menil collection

The Menil Collection is a curated contemporary art exhibit that changes every once in a while, so if you’ve been once you can always go back a few weeks later to see a whole new place.

 

The Printing Museum

1324 W Clay St, Houston, TX 77019

 

The Printing Museum exhibits on the history of printing, from ancient clay tablets to modern presses, with guided tours. It’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays!
